Welcome to a whole new type of learning experience!
Traditionally, the best place to get an intro to the world of linux was through Linux User Groups or Installfests. Unfortunately it's difficult to address everyone's needs at these events due to the large number of people, and the wide variety of topics in linux land.
To address this, HTINK proposes the learnfest format!
There will be three instructors available, each with a list of topics they can teach:
Eric Moore, Hewlett Packard
Ben Combee, Mozilla
Matt Joyce, British Telecom
At the beginning of each of four fourt-five minute sessions, students will select one of the instructors to be part of that instructors "class" for that offering.
The students will then select one of that instructors topics, and that will be the topic of discussion for that fourty-five minute period.
This means that if the topic you want covered isn't available in one offering, it will probably be available later, and each instructor will have a smaller set of students to work with for more personal attention!
Topics will include:
Basic CLI use
BASH scripting
Common administrative tasks
X11 (Windowing)
Python intro
Apache configuration
and more!!!
HTINK is a new hacker group with a specific charter to spread technical learning and creative problem solving skills to as many people as possible.
